Shakespeare demonstrates Lady Macbeth as a character who's personality and attitudes changes through out the play as of a result and consequence of being associated with the mass killing of King Duncan which was an action of regicide, this is blatantly shown to us at the beginning of act 5 scene 1 ,as a severe consequence of Lady Macbeth and Macbeth's actions, She is presented 'Mad' stating and confessing every bit of connotations of being involved in the Kings murder , "Yet who would have thought the Old man to have had so much blood in him", This suggest to us as neutrals and readers she is having regrets and complaining 'why did he have so much blood' . The word 'blood' gives a negative feeling , as its a symbolism of death, while also having different aspects of danger. the word "yet" spoken by Lady Macbeth shows an anagnorisis, which is the sense of realisation occurring in this scenario inside of Lady Macbeth. This scene presented with Lady Macbeth ignites regret and some states of guilt purposely placed by Shakespeare. In this scene the doctor also replied saying "Do you mark that?" this makes us readers know that the Doctor also now has implicit ideas of Lady Macbeth being involved with King Duncan's murder . Shakespeare uses the technique of a rhetorical question within Lady Macbeth to clearly show the sense of regret and realisation within her action. Shakespeare also adds this quote said by Lady Macbeth "all the perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this little hand. O, O, O". this metaphorical exaggeration is used to highlight how awful of the deed had become . Which is already shown by her uncontrollable madness. The writer purposely uses 'Arabia's perfume as its commonly known as one of the greatest perfume industries in the world , this explicitly gives us readers a great understanding of how damaging the blood had become towards Lady Macbeth since it transformed her whole personality from 'dominant' to 'crookedly mad' . This to an extent shows Shakespeare's ideas as the women antagonist doesn't succeed and eventually gives in. This also links to one of Shakespeare's ideas in the Jacobean society ,'don't kill your king or there will be consequences', This is a perfect example of one of the consequences in the play
Shakespeare present Lady Macbeth as the antagonist who changes in the back end of the play, At first she is shown to us audience as one of the catalysts who influence Macbeth on the action of committing treason, one way this was explicitly shown was when she distributes her feeling towards Macbeth telling him "look like the innocent flower but be the serpent under it", Shakespeare uses this metaphorical image to show how stealthily manipulating Lady Macbeth can be. This is one highlighted feature glued towards her personality and specialties . This phrase said by her can also be linked towards a biblical verse in the bible of the book Genesis, which is described to be about 'Adam and Eve' showing Lady Macbeth being the silhouette of Eve while Macbeth is unknowingly being placed as Adam. This makes us readers argue Lady Macbeth had influenced Macbeth into doing the "business". This also wideness the strength of the belief that Lady Macbeth is the absolute antagonist who exploits Macbeth's thoughts . The word 'serpent' also suggests a snake like figure with a distribution of temptation within it, for example tempting Macbeth. Shakespeare also uses this phrase which displays a simile to exaggerate the irony from nature. Therefore the presentation of Lady Macbeths change throughout the play is significantly large with connotation of strong and weak on both front and back areas of the play. This also links to a motif of women being somewhat of a distraction towards men . Shakespeare purposely does this to teach the society and warn them to be more careful, after the significant event of 'Guy Fawkes' .
